LSC offers RYA Dinghy Training Courses
The club is now offering members to take the RYA Beginners or Intermediate Dinghy Sailing Courses. Click here for more information and here for an application form.
RUBBISH!
It is clear from recent events that use of the club's waste collection service needs some clarification. The swing-top container located by the old boat shed is for the disposal of general domestic waste from the club house. Domestic waste consists of waste paper, cardboard, food scraps, vacuum cleaner dust and such like. It does not include old batteries, antifouling paint tins, hurricane lamps, engine oil, wiring looms, carpeting, oil filters, broken rigging, or any from of hazardous waste. Furthermore, if the bin is already full please take your litter away with you and place it in your own bin!
Thank you.

LSC BECOMES RYA TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT
We are pleased to report that LSC has now been recognised by the RYA as a training centre that can provide Dinghy Training to members.
This is the result of some hard work by club members over the last year to ensure that club equipment, process and procedures meet the standards required by the RYA. The club was inspected in June 2011 by the RYA and following some minor changes to process and procedures the club's RYA Training Status was upgraded on 27th July 2011.
What does this mean for Club Members?
In addition to the current shore based courses that the club can offer, LSC can now to provide the following “on the water” courses to club members:-
- Dinghy Levels 1-3
- Youth Sailing schemes Levels 1–4
- Day Sailing, Seamanship and Sailing with Spinnakers.
The first course to take advantage of this facility was Junior Training Week. This year the club will be issuing the relevant Youth Sailing certificates to students.
What Happens Next?
Youth Training
For our younger club members we offer our Junior Training Week. Informal training is provided during "Fun On The Water" sessions. As we go forward we would like these sessions to include the Youth Training Syllabus and for relevant certificates to be issued for progress made during these sessions. In order for us be able to do this we need to have Instructors and Assistant instructors running these sessions. The club’s Chief Instructor, Dave Weinstock, is willing to run Assistant Instructors courses that will allow competent dinghy sailors to achieve this status.
If any of the junior parents would like to be involved in this activity please inform either myself or Dave Weinstock.
Adult Training
We would like to start building up a programme of courses for members into the sailing calendar.
In order for us to gauge the demand of such training please could you register your interest with the Sailing Secretary.
