Cruiser Moorings

Club moorings are half-tide mud berths, suitable for bilge and lifting keel boats. Some members rent Chichester Conservancy or Langstone Harbour moorings. Contact the relevant Harbour Office for information.

If you are applying for membership you will be advised of the actual moorings and winter storage space available.

Visitors

Visitor's moorings are now available on either side of the bridge, one in Langstone Harbour and one in Chichester Harbour. These moorings are available for use by Cruisers or Dinghies and may be occupied free of charge for up to 48 hours, on a first-come first-served basis.

Hoist

The club operates a tractor-driven hoist which is used for most lift-in/lift out operations. The hoist has a maximum lifing capability of 10 tons.

Marinas

Some members prefer to keep their boats in marina berths. The nearest marina, at Northney, Hayling Island, is about five minutes drive or fifteen minutes walk, and has good facilities and access at all states of the tide. There are other marinas at Emsworth, Chichester, at Sparkes near the Chichester harbour entrance and at Southsea near the Langstone Harbour entrance.

Dinghy Berthing

There are storage areas for tenders adjacent to both the Langstone and Chichester slipways.

There is ample dinghy berthing available during the Summer season (approx. April to October), but while the cruisers are ashore, dinghy members who do not plan to sail from October-April are asked to take their boats home if possible.

Ground wires exist over most of the site and dinghies must be tied down.

Please note Calendar dates for dinghies to be moved or taken home for winter storage.

Boat Movements (by Road)

A new process is being instigated to help the Mooring and Berthing Officer keep track of the boats on-site and to help with the security of your boat.

If you are taking your boat away or bringing it back to the club, by road, please record the event by making an entry in the Boat Movement Book that can be found next to the Mooring and Berthing notice board (in the club room next to the club office). This applies to those boats that are being brought back to the club for the season and those being taken home at the end of the season. This also includes boats that are being bought or sold and applies any boat arriving or departing by road.

Winter berthing

Please note that dinghies must be either removed from the dinghy park or moved to the winter storage area, on or before the weekend prior to cruiser lifting operations. It is important that you move your dinghy before this date, as work to prepare the site is performed in the week before the lift-out. Owners who do not remove their boats may incur a penalty!

Please do not use the club slipway during the lift-in/launch weekends as it is very busy with lifting operations and tractor movements.

If you recover your cruiser onto your own trailer, you should discuss your launching and recovery plans with the Mooring and Berthing Officer and ensure that you do not interfere with the plans of other club members.
