LSC OFFERS RYA DAY SKIPPER COURSE

HAMBLE RALLY REPORT 2010
The rally was excellent, considering the short notice and in all 11 boats and crew attended. Last to arrive at about 11pm was Ciel Bleu but it was the start of their holiday and they had a lot of packing and organising to take care of. Mercury Yacht Harbour couldn't have been more welcoming and went out of their way to keep most of the boats together and a very enjoyable 'happy hour' or more like 2, was enjoyed on Reprieve. It was really nice to see a different mix of people from the Club, and the recently convalesced Bill (Jarasheba) and for us, that made the rally even more enjoyable. About 18 crew managed to book a table at the Water's Edge restaurant and despite some questionable service and medical distractions, favourable comments were made about the quantity and quality of the food. The real star though was the weather and they say the sun only shines on the righteous! [TD]

Electricity Pylon
The pylon has now been felled! Watch its last moments here. Thanks to Mike Ford for capturing this. And see an interview with the Commodore Nick Mason here.
THANK YOU!
The club would like to thank Mr Atkinson for taking the trouble to bring a club mooring buoy back to us. Mr Atkinson, who is not a club member, found the buoy on the foreshore while walking his dog. It is really gratifying that, while many members of the public would not think of reporting this to the club, Mr Atkinson took time and effort to pick up the buoy and bring it back to us.
NEWS WANTED!
We are constantly looking for items of news, information, stories, anecdotes, hints and tips for our web site. Do you have a new idea for the club, perhaps a story to share, or some photos of a recent race or rally. What about a holiday "Webcard" to your fellow members?
This is YOUR website. Please help to make it a lively and interesting place to visit.

SECURITY UPDATE
During last summer five outboards were reported stolen from boats at Langstone. The Harbour Conservancy, Marine crime unit, Hampshire and Sussex Police praised the work of Langstone members in being vigilant, reporting crime and keeping good records of missing equipment.
We must thank Brian Munday for his regular checks of the recorded activity at the club and regular communication with the Harbour patrol and Duty police patrols. A special thank you from the Harbour Master to Dominic Eadie for providing the missing link that saw 4 outboards recovered and returned to their owners. As a result there have been prosecutions for theft and handling of stolen goods. We thank them for their persistence. This is another example of simple measures making our property more secure.

RUBBISH!
It is clear from recent events that use of the club's waste collection service needs some clarification. The swing-top container located by the old boat shed is for the disposal of general domestic waste from the club house. Domestic waste consists of waste paper, cardboard, food scraps, vacuum cleaner dust and such like. It does not include old batteries, antifouling paint tins, hurricane lamps, engine oil, wiring looms, carpeting, oil filters, broken rigging or any from of hazardous waste. Furthermore, if the bin is already full please take your litter away with you and place it in your own bin!
Thank you.
