RYA TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT
LSC is recognised by the RYA as a training centre that can provide Dinghy Training to its members.
The club is inspected regularly by the RYA to ensure that processes, procedures and equipment meet the required standards.
In addition to the Shore Based Courses, LSC can also provide the following “On The Water” courses to Club Members:-
- Dinghy Levels 1-3
- Youth Sailing schemes Levels 1–4
- Day Sailing, Seamanship and Sailing with Spinnakers.
For our younger club members we offer our Junior Training Week. Informal training is provided during "Fun On The Water" sessions. As we go forward we would like these sessions to include the Youth Training Syllabus and for relevant certificates to be issued for progress made during these sessions. In order for us to do this we have Instructors and Assistant instructors running these sessions. The club’s Chief Instructor, Dave Weinstock, is willing to run Assistant Instructors courses that will allow competent dinghy sailors to achieve this status.
If any of the junior parents would like to be involved in this activity please inform either Eva Jessett or Dave Weinstock.
Adult Training
We would like to start building up a programme of courses for members into the sailing calendar.
In order for us to gauge the demand of such training please could you register your interest with the Sailing Secretary.

CRUISER RALLY TO ASHLETT CREEK
Club Cruiser Rally to Ashlett Creek 8/9 June. We will be guests of Ashlett Sailing Club (http://asc.lifeyo.com/visitors) and will be using the Club Pontoon. Numbers are limited to 14 boats which must be monohull boats, less than 34ft LOA and suitable for a drying harbour.
HW Portsmouth for the 8th is 1215. You will need to do your own calculations for access to Ashlett based on the Southampton tidal profile. Note that the Ashlett channel needs careful planning and that the pontoon area dries out very rapidly after the second high water.
We will be rafted against the pontoon and must use the downstream side of the pontoon only.
Happy hour will be 1800 and dinner will be booked at Ashlett Mill for 1930, so please confirm exact numbers of people in your party when booking. Please also provide an email address as we may be able to pre-book the evening meal to ensure we all get served together. If you are not joining us for the meal please mention it in the additional information box.
Mooring fees are payable at The Mill where you will also receive the code number for toilets/showers. Check the Ashlett Club website for more info which currently includes a warning of a navigation hazard (which may not be a problem by the time we get there).
Please use the online booking form: ASHLETT CREEK RALLY BOOKING FORM
Any visitors with out of date charts are advised that the channel into Ashlett has been changed in recent years. Click HERE for more info.
