CLUB NEWS

Welcome to the LSC Web Site. We hope this site will prove to be a useful and up-to-date resource for all our members and visitors.

We look forward to receiving your comments or suggestions and welcome any contributions which will add depth and interest to the site.

Site security improvements are progressing with the installation of the first of two access barriers, boat park security floodlights and CCTV cameras. This work is ongoing and demonstrates our commitment to the Crime Prevention initiative.

Users of the club compound should be aware that their actions will be recorded along with vehicle details and movements.

Please remember that it is the responsibility of all Members to ensure that their property is secure and that nothing of value is stored within boats lying ashore.

CHANGING ROOMS

Work has now started on PHASE 1 of the ground floor refurbishment. This first phase will see the upgrading of the Ladies' changing room.

Work is now under way and Phase 1 is nearing completion! A team of willing volunteers has demolished internal blockwork, installed the underfloor drainage and prepared the floor in readiness for the flooring contractor. Tiling of the walls is complete and the suspended ceiling and lighting installed. The flooring contractor has laid the new floor and we now await the completion of the cubicles, vanitory units and plumbing.

NEW YEAR'S PARTY

This year's theme was "Film Characters" and we enjoyed the company of James Bond, the Pirates of the Caribbean, a large black Gorilla, Popeye the Sailor Man, Count Dracula and many others! Well done to all those who took part and helped to make the evening a great success.

Buzz Euro Cup 2008

Congratulations to Jane Noble and Mark Wilson - Winners of the Buzz Euro Cup 2008

Jane & Mark receive their trophies at Lake Maggiore

What a fantastic result for two of our members representing Langstone Sailing Club at Lake Maggiore for the 2008 Buzz Euro Cup. A superb venue involving teams from around europe. Strong winds in the morning were replaced by light to moderate winds in the afternoon. In total, 9 races out of the 10 scheduled races were held. Jane and Mark finished in the following positions: 3,2,4,2,1,1,4,1,1, with two discards leaving them in 1st place overall. A fantastic result, congratulations!!

The author also entered the fray sailing an Iso in 5 of the 9 races, finishing 23rd out of 23!! Could do better!!! However, we had a wonderful time, learnt a lot, got sworn at for the first time in 30 years, and made some great new friends. Jane and Mark's win definitely the icing on the cake! Well done.
